the RSRI Community of Practice Technical Working Groups
The RSRI Community of Practice (CoP) is a network of 350+ global organizations, including professionals engaged in supporting refugee self-reliance and those who consider themselves advocates for the socio-economic inclusion of refugees through their work.
While CoP members meet bi-monthly for general learning calls, technical working group (TWG) members regularly convene researchers, practitioners, technical experts, and academics on specific topics related to refugee self-reliance. Current working groups include the Research CoP, the Market Systems Development (MSD) TWG, the Climate Risks and Self-Reliance TWG, and the Refugee Leadership & RLO Engagement TWG.
The RSRI Research CoP
Facilitated by Dr. Evan Easton-Calabria
The Research CoP convenes researchers and academics working towards expanding the evidence base and intellectual conversations on refugee self-reliance. The Research CoP meets quarterly to exchange project updates, publications, events, and other learning opportunities related to self-reliance-focused research.
The RSRI MSD TWG
Facilitated by Sasha Muench
The Market Systems Development (MSD) Technical Working Group (TWG) collaborates to develop resources on topics related to market systems development and refugee self-reliance. The MSD TWG aims to build capacity within the RSRI Community of Practice and inform country-level decision-making on market approaches in programming across various context typologies, examining barriers and enablers to self-reliance. Additionally, the group highlights market-based approaches—beyond cash assistance—that work to promote refugee self-reliance in fragile contexts.
The RSRI Climate Risks and Self-Reliance TWG
Facilitated by Dr. Evan Easton-Calabria and Refugees International (Sarah Miller and Jocelyn Perry)
The Climate Risks and Self-Reliance Technical Working Group (TWG) collaborates to identify good practices, existing research, and evidence gaps on climate and self-reliance, and develop relevant resources. The Climate Risks and Self-Reliance TWG aims to co-create policy and agenda-setting outputs on the intersection of refugee self-reliance and climate impacts.
The RSRI Refugee Leadership & RLO Engagement TWG
Facilitated by Mary Wangui
The Refugee Leadership & Refugee-Led Organization (RLO) Engagement Technical Working Group (TWG) brings together refugee-led organizations involved in the broader RSRI network to develop technical tools, research and policy papers, local advocacy toolkits, and practitioner and policymaker-focused guidance on refugee self-reliance.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORKING GROUP IS OPEN EXCLUSIVELY TO REFUGEE LEADERS & INDIVIDUALS WORKING WITH RLOS
