Over many years, EJ-YMCA has witnessed how the international community has directed funding to humanitarian and development projects that did not always meet the needs, realities or priorities of their constituencies. A L2GP study into protection and self-protection from 2014 confirmed many such flaws in current internationally led responses and documented how externally driven interventions in some cases resulted in failure rather than strengthening community resilience.
